I hate to do it.

I hate to do it, but I feel I must.

I have to steal a saying in our society that is very prevalent in the news, heck it is the news. What is worse, is that I must mix it with religion.

Yes, IS there FAKE NEWS IN CHURCH?

Yes I said it.

I want to come at this from two angles, there should’t be one angle, let alone two, which is sad.

The first one is ‘Do Pastors or clergy make up things,or points in their sermons to prove a point? What!? How could this be? Why, would a clergy do this? About what would he use ‘fake news’ to make a point?

Let’s go to the second angle, How would the ‘church’ know? This is so hard to tell which one of these is the worst, but I lean towards the second. (Maybe this is the reason ‘we’, the ‘church’ are where we are at now)

Does anyone every study the bible, let alone read it anymore? My observations have led me down the path that says  reading is down, and studying is way down. Now, you should notice that if you correct the second, it will fix the first in time.

God’s people must know him in an intimate way as to not see when something is said or done that is not of God. That is our DNA to be of God and his word.

God’s people for to long have just taking their teaspoon of the ‘message’ on sunday morning and assumed it would get them bye, let alone they thought it might be wrong. God is holding us accountable to know his word and what it means. I challenge you today to know God’s word and hold it close to your heart to know that it is good, and not Fake News.

Old Covenant-New Covenant

Christianity thru the denominations are sending a mixed message to the world that is hampering the gospel.

Denominations thru their church’s are living thru the old covenant with the hint of the new covenant coming. This is the issue that is holding back the body of Jesus from being what it was meant to be.

If you are in the ‘church'(building) of any denomination, you are emphasizing the old covenant’s structure and God’s intentions of his keeping the body of God together with the ‘law’ to restrain the ability of idolatry to have any more affect on his people. It is this inability to succeed in the ‘law’ that was used in with the body of God of Israel that should show us that it doesn’t work, it only brings it out more of our inability to do it within these parameters, that there is a much better way of being Christ like,as in the new covenant.

The new covenant reiterates that we(christians/believers) are of the New Temple, Christ was much greater than of the old one. Matthew 12.6 tells us that something greater than the temple is now here! Christ.

The ‘church’ (christianity, denominations) are portraying that we are still slaves to the old covenant, with its ritualistic practices of the days of Israel, keeps us from the freedom of the shackles. This is the old covenant’s definition. God’s new covenant is the reality of us being free, free from the constraints of being in sin, which was what the ‘law’ was, we are now free from this by being in ‘Grace’ of the Lord. Galatians 3.23 speaks of this as we were imprisoned and guarded until faith was revealed to us, which is of the new covenant.

The emphasis that should mainly pointed out is that the practices, traditions of old are not what God’s desires are for us since we are of the ‘New Creation’ now. We are to ‘be’ of this new creation in a different way. So set down your old ways ‘christianity’ and be wholly of the New Covenant!

This will be a big paradigm shift for a lot of people, but if we understand what the purpose of God’s new covenant’s design we will be rewarded with God’s presence.

God

The scriptures are ‘God’s story’ of himself, his people and his world/kingdom. All things mentioned in the scriptures are from God’s desires and creation of his kingdom. God’s perspective of his people being of his creation are of his plan to be in and of  His creation.

This is very important to remember in our reading and understanding the theme of the bible, the whole bible, not books, not verses, not testament’s but the ‘whole storyline’. To many times we use a phrase, a verse, a story to dictate the whole bible’s meaning. This is a very bad mistake that people make, it let’s them to fill in everything around this verse or story to make their whole storyline of the bible. Wrong!

The ‘Storyline’, or ‘Theme’ or ‘Paradigm’ of the Bible is only ‘seen’ if we take into account the whole bible and it’s flow of God’s direction of message to his people.  There are multiple stories, passages and topics that have made the ‘whole’ bible’s intent, when we use it as a subplot, or at the most an incident!  It will be a “OMG” moment when you take inconsideration the whole message of the bible and it’s connection of all the things that God has placed in the scriptures together that have made up the script of God and his people and his circumstances that has given us the real ‘true’ storyline.

Read larger chunk’s of the bible at a time starting with ‘the beginning’ of the story so your understanding will not be subverted on something small, that you make big. Reading 1 or 2 chapters at a time will allow you to see a bigger picture, then piecing the next 1 or 2 chapters to continuing this plan.

Go now and ‘SEE’ the big picture of God!

Kingdom Theology

Is this what has been missing in the theme(paradigm) of understanding the scriptures of Christianity?

Worship

What is it? How is it carried out? Why? When? Where? and for Who?

Alot of questions for such a simple word! But we will tackle such a conundrum in the next few blogs. Where should we start, why we should start at the beginning, I say!! LOL.

What is it? This could be the trickiest and the most broadest definition that we have given it by the christian community to date. Is this a good thing or a bad thing. We shall see in our studies. Let’s get going then.

We will start with the first verse in the bible that mentions the term ‘worship’, and go from there. Genesis 22.5 is the first mention of it, and it says ‘Then Abraham said to his young men, ” Stay here with the ass; I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you.”  Now, this might seem a straight forward explanation of where it is, there is more to it than you think. First, and foremost when studying scripture we must always stay in ‘context’ with the scripture.

This is the first true example of God’s purpose for us to see in his simple but raw sorta way for us to see it. Abraham was God’s ‘chosen’ one to bring out the ‘chosen’ children  of the miry clay of  the futility that it was in.  We might need to mention here that we could use just Abraham as the perfect example of the ‘worshiper’, we will touch on him even more later. But we will use him now to see what the  ‘chosen’ and also the first worshiper was without realizing it.

God’s using Abraham as his instrument in bringing back his people to him, started with this incident with Abraham and his son,Isaac.  It established the bond, or covenant that God still had with ‘his people’, he never forgot his side of the covenant’s responsibility. Jeremiah 7.23 and Ezekiel 36.28 both reiterate God’s covenant with his people. By using these verses as well as others we can see that first it is all about ‘who’ or what we will ‘worship’. The what(man making their own gods) and temples to put them in, was the issue; this was a result of mankind choosing not God but themselves as their god.

Let’s go back even further than this story and use the first mention of man by God and see what his intention for him to do or be. It is found in Genesis 1. 27) So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. 28) And God blessed them and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the earth.  So Man was an image of God in God’s realm, World or Kingdom. Let this sink in for a minute with the last statement……… Let’s look  at this in two ways, one is This is what God was intending what His creation be all about! His Creation being an example in the Whole Creation(Universe, stars, galaxies, animals, plants, insects, the whole earth). Man was to be the centerpiece of all of it!  Secondly, the last statement should be a clue to the next storyline of the scriptures. The whole bible is filled with the picture of God’s people using this miniature example of the big picture of what God had previously designed for them. It is the temple model of  God being in the center of his creation and mingling with His creation. The temple was the miniature example of this creation story that He had showed them in the beginning.

Worship or acknowledging who the ‘Creator’ of the universe is, and being a part of it is the essence of Worship. It is being what we were designed to be, the ‘image of God’.

Say it isn’t so!

This ‘kingdom’ has got us wrapped around its little finger and we don’t even know it, or worse we don’t care!

There is this ‘just another day’ of life, and whatever it is that I must do to get thru it I will. There is even this notion that I must ‘better’ myself that I can make it easier on myself or get ahead that it is the right thing to do. Are we playing their rules or God’s? What does it say to our teammates or our adversaries? They are probably as confused as we are? We have to play the game. And we have to win! Where will it end, and when?

This kingdom that has got us is the one that has been around since it was created by ‘us’ the smart ones(the ones that said we could handle making the rules, and say who is in charge) starting with Adam and Eve and still continuing  with ‘us’.

The good things have been good, we can create our own good, our own way,our own time. That is in our own thinking, according to our individualist way, to each our own! LOL, look where this has got us, we believe we can and will create our own ‘good’, it should be respected by all that are around us and beyond. It is my right. But wait, it now can offend someone? And it is not alright, say it isn’t so. ha ha. Have we now created a conundrum all by our selves? We have created confusion all amongst ourselves, just in the name of us wanting to ‘set’ the rules of our ‘kingdom’.

Now, the bad. Where does one start? I’ll just let you fill in the blanks, the fact that you can fill in the blanks, should tell us something! But yet we still do it?

I almost feel that this encapsulating feeling is that it is the only game in town to be in to play. But why. For some of us, it should be seen as a insult. We know better.

Christianity has and is playing the same game! Why? …………….     I think I know, and it isn’t going to go over very well.

You see it is for the same reason  that God told all of God’s people of the old testament, it is for your ‘good’ that you seen as  the ‘good’ people of God and to be looked at as “My People” said God. It is to be that ‘they’ will ‘see’ who you are and believe that “I am your God”.  God told his believers that ‘He will make his people’, it would be in his own way and time. It was told to the Jews that they should not mix with their neighbors, because of the influence that they would have on them.  Their ways, their gods, their practices, and their rituals were the dirt to the white robes of the Israelites.

It is for this reason that it has evident that this is what has taken place to christianity. In our quest to welcome our neighbor to our family we have also welcomed the dirt of that neighbor in with it. It is when we welcome in the one that is family into our family that is unique and right to be apart of that family that we see that it belongs without hesitation that we can be white and pure in the truest sense.

Our ‘being’ Christlike  ‘is’ the attraction that everyone will see that we are christians, or to be more succinct, They(non-believers) will come to be in Him by ‘our being like Him’.

So, let’s don’t say: Say it isn’t so, that we(christians) are just like everybody else!

Let’s be different! Let’s be not of this world, kingdom but let us be of God’s kingdom and be different! Let’s be Christlike.

Let’s be of that “Kingdom not of this world” says Jesus.

How do you,Read?

For those that take reading the bible seriously, I mean in a more serious bible study of your own, in what lens do you read from? ( You won’t see this at church)

For most people that are serious in real bible study will come from usually come from either from their upbringing traditions, which is reading the scriptures from an all ready theology mindset, and when the word is read it will ‘fit’ their story.

This mindset has been in effect for quite awhile in the christian main stream, which will give it its own direction and outcome. I would unpack this scenario now but this is not the road for today.

Where as the road today is pointing to the road less traveled is the one of the critical Historic method of which the storyline is kept in context of history, and using the social, personal, and historical truth describe the origins of ancient texts in order to understand  ‘the world behind the text’.

This method ‘critical historical method’ is one that is being used more aggressively it seems the last thirty to forty years in the educational realm, which has brought about some new and different light to the scriptures. In my opinion it is the more truest form of extracting the ‘message’ of the scriptures. In the way of ‘theological methodology’ the scriptures are skewed because you are being biased in your reading and mindset. It is only because you are set in your ways of ‘seeing’ the bible or that it is thought to be the only way to read it, or it was the way that your church sees it.

It is a safe way to start from scratch with out any preconceived notions on anything and just take the text for what meant to the person, persons or people on a social understanding to stay within the context of the story. Go deeper into God’s people, who they were, why they were chosen, what were they to do? This will get you on a good path of God’s storyline for ‘His Chosen People’!!
